"Fighting for the human rights of LGBTQ people around the world - not just here - is my foreign policy priority." These are the words of Joe Biden a month ago during - what he proudly described – as "the biggest-ever Pride Month event held at the White House." The president stressed that "this is only the beginning".

Biden also boasted about having more "LGBTQ people" in his administration than ever before. He paid particular attention to two "transgender" deputy ministers. One of them, Richard Levine, recently known as Rachel, announced his "transition" at the age of 54. By the way, after over twenty years of marriage, he abandoned his wife and two children. In 2022, the "USA Today" newspaper admitted "Rachel" to the "Woman of the Year" award.

Most cherished values

Just two weeks after Biden took office in early 2021, the White House released the “Presidential Memorandum on Advancing the Human Rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex (LGBTQI+) Persons Around the World”. It clearly emphasises that the task of the American state is to diplomatically, politically and financially support the LGBTQI+ agenda, which was referred to as the "most cherished democratic values". The U.S. President has committed the State Department (the equivalent of our Ministry of Foreign Affairs) to act in this field, as well as several other institutions subordinated to him, including the departments of defence and agriculture.

We read in black and white that the goal of the United States is making legal changes that will "end discrimination" and - in addition to political pressure, as an element of the "fight against homophobia, transphobia and intolerance" – financing the NGOs and private sector committed to LGBTQI+.

Embassy grants

Just three months later, a grant for "projects supporting the LGBTQI+ community in Poland" was announced by the U.S. Embassy in Warsaw. You could receive up to $20,000 for activism in this field. The embassy also announced a similar grant this year, raising the amount to $50,000.

From the beginning of his official engagement, U.S. Ambassador Mark Brzeziński was involved in promoting LGBTQI+. To start with, he declared: "I come as an ambassador with a very clear message: America stands for equality. (…) I will continue to emphasise to Polish authorities the importance of an impartial judiciary, independent media, and respect for the human rights of all, including LGBTQI+ persons..."

Also, the previous ambassador Georgette Mosbacher did not hide that "Poland is on wrong side of history", sticking to appreciating the traditional family that has been appropriate for two thousand years in European civilisation.

Brzeziński regularly engages in further actions promoting the LGBTQI+ agenda in Poland, and the U.S. Embassy releases recordings calling the "rainbow" demands the "universal human rights that are not ideology."

  Obviously, this American unequivocal recognition and promotion of homosexuality, transgenderism and other various "gender identities" - as the foundation of "Western values" - put pressure on many European countries, which ambassadors sign subsequent letters calling for a political and social revolution in Poland.

At the last "Equality Parade", Brzeziński appeared as usual, this time photographing himself, among others, with MP Michał Szczerba. The ambassador also does not hide that in Autumn 2023, he would prefer a change of power in Poland to the liberal-left wing option. What is characteristic, in the last June Warsaw Pride Parade, apart from American diplomats, there were also official representatives of top American capital groups and financiers - e.g. Google, Microsoft, Tesla, Procter & Gamble, J.P. Morgan and Goldman Sachs.

Similar actions are taken by American diplomacy around the world. Rainbow flags are displayed in embassies and consulates in accordance with the White House directives, next to the U.S. flag, as an equivalent symbol of the Pax Americana.

President Biden’s administration goes much further than just affirming homosexuality. Well, even further than approval for transsexualism, which is understood as the promotion of men who consider themselves to be women or vice versa. These days, any eccentric "non-binary gender identities" and sexual behaviour can count on the support of American diplomacy.

In September 2022, the State Department awarded a grant for 12 "drag queen" performances in Ecuador. In the same month, a grant was given to a foundation that promotes "LGBT rights" and prostitution - dubbed "sex work" - in Colombia. In August, a "Queer Film" festival in Portugal was subsidised, which in the past has also screened films depicting incest and paedophilia. When Republican Senator Marco Rubio objected to this, the State Department responded to his interpellation: "We support freedom of expression and do not censor our grant recipient's content or products."

U.S. Ambassador to France Denise Bauer, who previously was, among others, director of the ‘Women for Biden’ campaign organisation, in February 2023 made a symbolic change at the embassy in Paris. The portraits of five Americans with ties to France - dead white men - had been removed. In their place, in the name of "diversity", others have appeared. General Charles Cotesworth Pinckney, a signatory of the Constitution, an officer in the army of George Washington fighting in the War of Independence (1775-1783), who later served as ambassador to the first American president in Paris, was symbolically exchanged for Sylvia Rivera – born as Mr Ray, a pioneer of transgender activism, who wanted to be "identified as a drag queen."

Undermining America

Biden and his State Department have also officially committed themselves to fighting “conversion therapy.” Theoretically, it is about counselling and medical treatment for homosexuality - this is also how it is presented to the public. In practice, the internal State Department documents, which leaked to the media, indicate - any intentional "verbal therapy" treatment and encouraging people not to engage in homosexual acts – to be a form of oppression and "suppression of gender identity". This so-called “oppression” also includes protecting the children - who have been told that they are "transgender" - from taking hormones that irreversibly change their bodies or surgical removal of breasts or genitals.

In his White House speech cited at the beginning, Biden strongly attacked the laws preventing minors from carrying out this type of surgery or "therapy" introduced in recent months by many states. According to the president, protecting children from such activities - which can ruin their lives and often end in suicide - "attacks the most fundamental values and freedoms we have as Americans."

He emphasised that America is "the only nation based on ideas - not geography, religion, or ethnicity. On the idea of equality. It is therefore evident that for the current president, his environment and a large part of the American establishment, the LGBTQI+ agenda is identical to the idea of America, and the United States should be a vehicle of "equality" spreading it around the world.

Many politicians and commentators in the U.S. criticise such far-reaching involvement of their diplomacy. They accuse the government in Washington of throwing away public money into the drain of wrong priorities. Right-wingers, conservatives, Christians, but also not a small number of centrists and liberals speak openly about the promotion of the far-left agenda at home and abroad.

Probably there is no coincidence that the governor of Florida and presidential candidate Ron DeSantis made the fight against the "woke" and the LGBT agenda his hallmarks, attacking former President Donald Trump in this field - his rival in the fight for the nomination of the Republican Party. DeSantis reminds us that American embassies also - albeit on a smaller scale - engaged in similar initiatives and hung rainbow flags under Trump.

The reasons to criticise this course are also very mundane and practical. By engaging in this kind of ideological neo-colonialism - a term in this context that is increasingly appearing on the American right - America weakens its position vis-à-vis countries that want to preserve their own cultural identity. China and Russia are trying to enter this space, presenting themselves as alternative powers not interfering in the internal affairs of individual countries. Many countries of the so-called Global South - in Africa, Asia and South America - are susceptible to this kind of narrative. Western colonialism is their most basic historical experience, but Russian imperialism, for example - for geographical reasons - is a total abstraction.
